College Transitions Coordinator for the NYC Diploma Plus Network
Overview of the position
The Diploma Plus National Board of Directors seeks a College Transitions Coordinator to help the five NYC Diploma Plus (DP) high schools implement comprehensive college transition strategies. The strategies are intended to result in more students: (1) graduating college ready, (2) getting accepted at colleges, and (3) successfully completing the first year of college at a two or four year institution. The College Coordinator for the DP network will work closely with school-based college liaisons designated by each DP high school. Specific duties and qualifications are listed below.

Duties
- Collaborate with the school-based college liaisons to identify and develop CCR strategies and services at each school that helps students: (1) graduate college ready, (2) get accepted at a college, and (3) successfully complete the first year of college at a two or four year institution.
- Develop opportunities for students to explore college options through activities such as visits to and summer programs at colleges
- Help the school-based college liaisons organize students by thematic cohorts (e.g. areas of career interest, social emotional issues) and develop a system of incentives to encourage students to follow through
- Collaborate with and help organize a network-wide strategy for helping students apply to college (i.e. completing applications, preparing for and taking entrance exams)
- Organize continuing support strategies for students once they begin college (e.g. monthly dinners with other students, pairing with mentors)
- Recruit postsecondary partners
- Organize and manage the financial aid program that helps students pay for short term costs such as applications and college books
- Oversee the development of a college data base as well its use on behalf of the five schools and their students
- Identify and pursue funding to support the continuation and expansion of these services beyond the 18-month funding period
- Organize and facilitate monthly meetings of the school-based coordinators
- Develop and monitor a comprehensive work plan
- Manage college transition activities on behalf of the network to ensure smooth and efficient delivery of services
- Help disseminate information about the successes of the college transition program
Qualifications
- Significant experience working with high schools and their students on college transition strategies
- Knowledge of local, regional, and national colleges who appear the most promising to pursue strategic partnerships
- Strong organizational skills, including the use digital tools and other technology
- Good writing and oral presentation skills
- Demonstrated experience fundraising, including writing successful grant proposals
- Experience working in transfer schools
- Knowledge and application of youth development strategies and the ability to engage and motivate young people
- Minimum of a BA degree
Salary & Benefits
- This full time position pays between $55,000-$70,000 based on experience
